BLOG 6: "Social Issue"

One of the more important social issue for me is political corruption because is the basement for another issue. If politicians did their job well, fighting for social causes, many problems would not exist, but money always wins.

Politic corruption is based on the governors making decisions benefiting private companies or people with a lot of economic power.

It can affect the health, economy, politics, education, and even the culture of a country, generating benefits for a certain part of the population. Currently, the greatest corruption is concentrated in countries of Africa, South America and Asia.

In Chile things are not the best, we can see political corruption in emblematic cases such as “Pinocheques”, “Caso Penta”, Caso MOP-GATE”, “Pacogate”, “Milicogate”, and laws benefiting fisheries and foresters.

At this moment you may be wondering why political corruption is a social problem but is very easy to see the answer, in addition to not seeing the social benefit, the people chosen by the citizens seem to be governing only a sector of the population, forgetting the real ones problems and not creating laws to protect those most in need, it even makes one wonder if some social problems benefit certain people with greater power.

I hope that in the future corruption is punished with jail and things really start to change in the country.

BLOG 5:"My Future Job"

 Hi! I was thinking about the future and I realize that my future depends of my future job. This is like a dream blog. 

As you may know, I’m studying chemistry, so I hope that my future job is relate to my career. I hope to work in a lab trying to avoid the animal test in the cosmetic industry. Now as a student I don’t buy products that make animal test and with this try to make a little change but help the industry to replace the animal tests with new technologies will be a dream came true.

I would love to travel for job, I think that you can learn so much from other people from another country with different laws and cultures. For example, New Zealand and Canada are countries where animal test is a crime.

 I don’t think that the salary is a problem, I try to make the things because I like it.

In the future, before I start the cruel life of a worker I hope to study a major in chemistry in another country, I think that study and live in a place totally different will make you grown and being more mature. Also is important to know a lot of information to be the best chemistry that you can be. 

BLOG 4: " My Weird Collection"

Hi! Today I'm going to show you the most amazing collection that you ever see.

Like a little intro to the topic, I should tell you that I enjoy animated series, movies and I love the geek culture. I also like the Collectable Figures so, as may you expect, when I met the Funko Pop brand I felt in loveee.

They make figures inspired in the bobbleheads but cutest and they have a long catalog of characters.

Before I start, I should add that this hobby is with my brother who also contributed to this collection.

Our first figure of the collection was a FAKE FUNKO, yes, as you read, we got a fake funko. It was a gift for my brother for his birthday and now, seeing it, you can definitely see that this funko is different.

Since this moment the memories are distorted and I don't remember what funko came next so I will show you the collection that my brother made.

And this is my collection! which is a smaller collection but together is everything that we want.

Summer Stitch is my lastest funko and it was a gift for my birthday. It's my favorite and has a sweet smell, like strawberry

I also have two more little figures; they're cute keychains and they're put in my littles backpacks.

BLOG 3: "The Chemistry Against Cruelty"

 

Hi! As may you know I study chemistry and I´m in my fourth semester. Chemistry is the science that studies the composition of matter and the proprieties in its interaction, the resulting products, and the application of these properties in the life of man as such.

Of interest for chemists are the properties of the compounds, their reactivity and their use in fields such as biochemistry, pharmacology, the cosmetics industry, the food industry, materials chemistry, petrochemicals, engineering, among others.

One of the reasons why I study chemistry is for try to make a change in the cosmetics industry and avoid animal experimentation.

Animal experimentation as the name says consists of testing the products on the animals alive to see their reactions.

Animal tests are being replaced in areas such as toxicity tests, neuroscience and drug development: in exchange for torturing animals, it can be tested with human cells. In this sense, human cells have begun to be used to create innovatively devices called "organs in chips", these can be used in place of animals to study possible human reactions.

I believe that one day the change will be made, and I hope that I could help in that change.

BLOG 2: "The Best Concert I've Ever Been To"

 

Hi! I have always enjoyed the music and been a fan of a lot of artist and bands, my favorite band is Linkin Park.

Linkin Park is a rock band formed in 1996 in California. Their most famous songs are “In The End”, “Numb”, “New Divide”, “What I’ve Done” and “Crawling”.

I have been fan for fourteen years -I’m twenty-two now- and my dream was see them live. When I was eleven, they came to Chile, but my parents didn’t give my permission to go to the concert cause I was little. In 2016 they announced a new world tour and they visited Chile for the second time. This was my moment and I bought the tickets exactly in the moment that they released them.

The concert was the 21^ts May of 2017 and it was all that I was dream. I went with my brother, who is a fan of the band too and we cry at the begging of the concert. We sang every song and enjoyed every minute.

I remember that when they sang my favorite song called “Waiting for the end” I cried cause I always dreamed to listened in live and in the concert before of Chile, they didn’t sang it so it was a surprised

In 2017, a month after the concert in Chile, Chester Bennington, the vocalist, committed suicide.

I hope you give it a chance to the band and listen a few songs, they´re really good.

BLOG 1:"My Favorite Country"

Hi! In this blog, I´m going to tell you about my favorite country. 

My favorite country is Iceland, it's an island located in the North Atlantic Ocean. The capital named Reykjavik is also the largest city in the country. It has a polar climate and it's cold almost all year. Iceland is one of the safest countries in the world. 

One of the reasons why I would visit Iceland is the polar lights that you can see with no-problem from August to April, it’s a fabulous scene of nature. I think is a show that you must see before you died.  

Another attractive that I would like to see is the geology of the land, Iceland has a lot of volcanos and geyser, in fact, there is located the oldest known geyser in the world! Imagine that! 

I would love to live there! either studying or working, live in Europe is one of my dreams and I hope one day write this blog from there.

BLOG 10: "Evaluation of Your Blogging Experience"

Hi classmates and teacher! Today is the last blog and I'm going to evaluate what this process meant.

I generally like English a lot and how it can help you create new skills to develop personally and professionally, but also, I’m not really good writing in English I prefer to speak. That’s why I like the activity to write a blog.

I enjoy written about a new topic every class I feel that now I can write better in this language, but I think that sometimes the topic was boring and not interesting, so it was very difficult to write about it.

I would like that for the next semester the teachers consider the opinion of the students to select the topics of the blogs. The other thing that I would like it’s created a vlog (a blog but in a video) but with the topic of our careers!

I would have loved to write about my favorite games, books, food, and cities! Also, I remember a class that we discuss a national problem and that would very interesting for a blog and it would help to be more aware of what is happening in the country.

BLOG 9: "Movies and Series"

Hi! Today we’re going to talk about movies and series, I have a lot of adored movies, every movie that I see for me is the best<3 but I’ll present you the craziest movie! “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” even the name is wired!

So, this movie is from 2004 and is listed as romantic science-fiction comedy-drama film (wow, try saying that fast), was directed by Michel Gondry and starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. At first when I saw that the protagonist is Jim Carrey, I thought it would be a bad movie or that I would try to be a comedy movie by all means but I was pleasantly surprised when the movie stars to be a crazy and complicated movie.

Did you ever want to forget someone? A person that you loved very much and would rather forget to live with pain and sadness. That's what the movie is about after an important romance one of the protagonists forget the other and it’s a mess…

I like this movie because of the history and the way of telling the events and how easily you can feel identified with the characters.

BLOG 8: "A Subject I Enjoy Studying This Semester"

I love chemistry (that's why I'm studying it) so easily I might write about the class of "General Chemistry 1” but believe it or not, the subject I enjoy studying this semester was "introduction to calculus I”

In this class, we study the calculus of real numbers and functions and techniques of analysis. With two class per week, this is the subject that most problems bring to the students! In addition to the class we have homework and "laboratories" in this last activity we must solve a problem with basic pc programs.

This semester we study real numbers, functions, trigonometry, limits and linearization, topics that we must know for the next semester and help in the scientific analysis of a process.

I like this subject because it’s interesting and a challenge! I like the teachers, the content of the subject and how can you relate it to the basic sciences as you learn more tools for analysis and development of each area.

I know it is a little wired that someone enjoys “calculus” but I think that it’s something basic that everybody must know.

BLOG 7: "A Career-Related Website"

Hello, today I’ll present you a great page call TED –Technology, Entertainment, Design- I met the website in first year of my before university cause the teacher wanted us to do a talk of a topic that we want.

Created in 1984, TED it´s a website that post a lot of talks of professionals in different topics and in more than 100 languages, their purpose is to provide ideas and information to the people without profit and in a simple way. With more than 600 topics you can find your favorite talk and fill you with wisdom!

I visit the website once per week and I see one or two talks. I love see talks about Science, Technology and Discovery. I think that is a great place for development the creativity and the way that their present the information it’s curious, mostly of the pages shows a lot of text and usually it’s exhausting to read but in this page you have to see videos, that it’s more simple and more interest.

BLOG 6: "Favourite Superheroe, Antiheroe or Villain"

HI! Today I must answer a very difficult question… In general, I like the movies of superheroes but I´m not a big fan and I don’t have a “favourite one”. The first character I thought was Iron Man and then Captian Marvel- ‘cause her name is Carol- but they’re not my favourite. SO! I start to think in Villains or Antiheroes in other productions and I remembered the current "Lord of Fire", Lord Zuko.

He is a character from the animated series “Avatar: The Legend of Aang”, created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, his first appearance was in chapter 1: “The Boy in The Iceberg”. He was presented as the villain of the series, which sought to capture the new Avatar that had returned from disappearance. As the chapters pass, we begin to know the story of -in that time- Prince Zuko.

Zuko is the son of the Fire Lord Ozai, who seeks to dominate the world so that the power of fire is spread. We will know that Ozai banished his son and Zuko can’t return to his home without having found the Avatar.

After many adventures, Zuko begins to change, to mature and find a friend in his enemies and rivalry with his family.

The reason why I like so much this character is for his development and how your actions are more important that your destiny, you can change your destiny, who you’re, just wanting it and when you want something, you must fight for it.

BLOG 5: "A Photograph"

I really like the photos, I enjoy taking selfies with friends, family and my boyfriend and when I am on a trip I take A LOT of photos for the memory. I wanted to select a photo of the Andromeda Galaxy but because I haven’t idea who took the picture I prefer select a more personal one.

This is me, my grandma, and my aunt when I was about three years. I remember when my uncle took this photo-yep, I REMEMBER- it was a winter day and my aunt and grandma-I call her Mami- went to bought some stuff and when they return brought me a winter ice cream!

I love this photo because I had a lovely childhood and I don’t know why but this photo reminds me a lot of good memories.

Another thing that is funny it’s when I was little we had family meetings and we saw a lot of pictures. We exchanged photos for favors or another’s pictures and this photo, it was the BOOM! Everyone wanted to have it.

BLOG 4: "Favourite Musician"

Hi! So today I’m going to tell you about my favorite musician. I think that this it’s the easiest question that you can make me.

In general, I like all kind of music, from pop to rock, folklore to reggaeton, opera to rap, the music makes me feel indescribable things and gives me energy. And my favorite band is Linkin Park.

I remember that my older brother showed me a song called “Numb” in the MTV channel-yes, when MTV showed music videos- And I liked it a looot, at that time I was six years old-I like them for fifteen years- and when I was in class I used to sing it all the time, so much that my best friend started singing it too. After that everything was incredible, with my brother we started to listing all the songs and while we listened to them we began to create a great bond with the music that they created. What I like the most is the lyrics of their songs and what they express.

Then, in 2017, we finally saw them live and it was incredible, I remember cried for two complete songs! And when my favorite song played, I cried for another two minutes.

After two months from the concert we received the tragic news, Chester, the vocalist past away. He committed suicide. It was sorrowful.

But “The Show Must Go On”, they stay together and I´m going to listening his music for all the time. the legacy of Linkin Park and Chester will be forever.

BLOG 3: "My Favorite Piece of Technology"

My favorite one is the Kindle.

What it is? It’s like a tablet but his principal use is for reading books and because it have an electronic ink it doesn't hurt the eyes, a thing that’s really important to me ‘cause my myopia. My Kindle was a birthday gift from my parents 4 years ago and since then I have used it reading a lot of books.

 So, for use it I download a book that I want to read but illegally-please don’t tell anyone- then I change the format of the archive and send the filed to my kindle, the kindle show you your library and recommend a book selection. You also can use the kindle for surfing the internet but it only count with an experimental browser.

I use it very often-not now because I have to study:(- and has been with me in all my travels. Even though I love books for their smell and texture I really like read in my kindle, I think that’s a great option for have an unlimited library and you can carry it anywhere cause it’s light.

I think that my life would be just the same but with a lot back pain for carrying books.

BLOG 2: "Why did I choose this programme/career?"

When I was little I dreamed being a professional dancer so I stared to dance in an academy where I danced for five years but I quit because my high school was demanding much time for the studies. After that I tried to look a new dream, I met an incredible teacher of chemistry, she was incredible teaching and –being a little extra- I fell in love with science.

So when I finished high school I thought that my dream career was chemistry but maybe I should study chemical civil engineering, you know, because “being an engineering it’s so much better than the others careers” or that’s what I thought when I was eighteen. Since I beginning the career I realize that I had made a mistake but I stayed anyways because I was really comfortable in that college… until I wasn’t. After two years I quit from that career and I took a gap year for prepared the PSU.

I was ready for take a great decision and I was no able to make a mistake.

I follow my dreams and I didn’t hear the comments of other people, the chemistry was and it's my favorite science and I want to live for it. And I applied! I feel so happy being here, in this career and in this college.

For the future I expect so many great things, I want to work in a laboratory and do research. And maybe work in a school and help someone who can choose his dream career.

BLOG 1: "My Autobiography"

Hello! So today I'm going to tell you a few things about my life.

I was born in a hospital in Quinta Normal, Santiago in the afternoon of March 25^th. I live with my parents, my brother, my grandma and two dogs in a quiet place of Lo Prado.

I studied in a small school in Lo Prado in my first years of student and then I got into the Liceo 1 in Santiago.

I used to study chemical civil engineering for two years in another university but I change of career because I didn’t really like it. After that I took a gap year to look what I wanted to study.

Now I'm studying chemistry and I’m very happy with the career,
teachers, university and classmates. Also, studying in the UCh it’s a dreamcome true.

In my free time I enjoy playing videogames, reading fiction books, watching series in Netflix, making craft and doing make-up. I also like baking cakes, cupcakes and cookies for my family and friends.

I live in Lo Prado with my parents, my brother, my grandma and my pets, two dogs. I study Chemistry, this is my second career. I studied Chemistry Engineering for two years at another university. I like to read, dance and play videogames. I like to read fantasy, romantics and adventures novels.My favorite video games are Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear Solid. There're oppositive games but I enjoy them a lot. Another activity that I enjoy is seeing football; my favorite teams are Liverpool and Universidad Catolica. I go to the stadium often to cheer my team. I love to travel and met new cities; recently I visit Chiloé and Puerto Montt.
